Introducing
Heartbeat of Toledo
In
one of our favorite talks we share with you what Heartbeat
of Toledo is all about. You'll learn about Heartbeat's history,
including the fact that the emergency pregnancy center movement
in the United States began right here in Toledo and rapidly
spread across the country when abortion became legal. We'll
tell you about our services and share stories from our volunteers
about what it's like being a Heartbeat Pregnancy Mentor. We'll
also share news about our very popular Heart to Heart Learning
Center and our future plans. We can even share some of our
success stories.
Abstinence
Contrary to popular belief, not everybody's
doing it. We can speak to your junior high to high school audience about
why they should join the majority of their classmates and choose abstinence.
We have a variety of videos and brochures that can accompany this talk.
Stages of Development
In
this beautiful talk, the audience has a chance to learn all about how a
baby develops inside the womb. We have videos, brochures, and models that
show exactly what goes on during those all-important first nine months.
Probably our favorite video to accompany this talk is Baby Steps.
This amazing video gives viewers a four-dimensional peek at a baby in the
womb and gives us a chance to see a baby yawn, stretch, smile and more.
Sexually
Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
Every year, millions of people
get a sexually transmitted disease.
Statistics indicate that one in
four individuals have an STD.
Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis,
herpes, human
papilomavirus (HPV) and HIV are
just a few of the 25 STDs that
are out there. The truth of the
matter is that STDs can kill.
This straight talk is ideal for
junior
high and high school students,
particularly health education classes.

Although abortions have become
common, most people don't know
exactly what happens during an
abortion. This talk covers the
different types of abortions
as well as abortions' risks to
women.

About Contraception
For decades many sex education
programs have promoted the use
of mechanical or chemical contraception
to reduce the rates of teen pregnancies
and the spread of STDs. Statistical
studies demonstrate that this
approach has failed dramatically
and resulted in massive increases
in these rates. Many people are
suffering from the consequences
associated with the use of these
methods. This talk will present
the risks involved.
